Joshua Chany Yamamoto-Kim

Let me introduce my son Joshua Chany Yamamoto-Kim.

He was born on Aug 22nd, 2006. His height was 19 1/4in and weight was 8lbs. He was a BIG boy I tell you because his mom had a very very rough time during the labor.

I am really glad that our son has finally arrived and we feel so blessed now. The first moment when I held my son was more emotional than what you can describe what it is.

Although we are having a lot less sleep than usual, we are still happy to sleep less for the baby.

YahooMap API test drive

I’ve created a test drive application that uses Yahoo Map APIs.
Here’s the link to the application:

http://www.shinstudio.com/lab/yahoo/map/MapNote

The features are as follows:

  1. Saves user’s last location and zoom level
  2. Adds Note that contains title, memo, and webcam capture image. (By rightclicking and selecting the first context menu)
  3. Uses mousewheel to zoom in/out
  4. Displays latest 15 entries

Here’s something to improve:

  • Timing when to add marker. There is an issue that marker’s position gets screwed up when dragging map before marker gets rendered
  • Adding picture upload feature from local machine, so that user can upload an image without having webcam
  • Adding User account and group, so that only users in a group shares MapNote. (This could lead to community type of application)

The YahooMap is built using AS2, which is still quite slow to perform. I hope YahooMap team make AS3 version YahooMap soon, which I believe it will outperforms current yahooMap.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400

I ordered a new intel processor with a new mother board, a new video card, and 2GB DDR2 800 rams. I haven’t upgraded my pc for 3 years and realized that I would need to upgrade.

Windows vista is coming soon and it requires higher system so I think I’ll get ready by the time retail version comes out.

Also recently I got into video editing using Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 so I needed better pc with more power anyways.

Perhaps with this upgrade, I can work much faster than when I had P4 2.4GHz… :P Here’s a list of what I’m getting:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 Conroe 2.13GHz
  • GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 Socket T (LGA 775) Motherboard
  • eVGA 256-P2-N554-AX Geforce 7600GT 256MB Video Card
  • Thermaltake W0093RU ATX 12V 2.0 Version 500W Power Supply
  • CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

I hope I get some freelance work soon to make up that amount…
