Today I created a new empty email message and clicked on “To…”. In the poped up window named “Select Names”, there is no names in the list. I’ve tried many different things to get right back to where every name in my address book is displayed. Had no luck. So I tried google and found the solution…

Since FLEX became industrial trendy, I’ve seen many developers learning FLEX. Learning technologies is always good. However, abusing technologies is not always good.
For example, there are many message boards and forum made with HTML, CSS, PHP, etc. Why the hell would you convert this great application only using FLEX to recreate the wheel? (guessing only UI part is done using FLEX). It is not functional at all if FLEX is the only technology to create UI. You can’t even compete it with other message boards that made with traditional UI technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. FLEX has its own place. I think it’s meant to be in the enterprise level web application development where you’d need rapid development and standard practice implemented.
Remember why flash was blamed for the annoying advertisements? FLEX will be placed into the same situation as Flash if it is being misused.
Anyways, my name is shinhee and I’m here to complain about how developers seem to use FLEX in different way.
I thought Korean characters in UTF-8 would be perfectly solid thing in the real world specially with PHP. Maybe it’s just vbulletin board. I don’t know it yet.
I set up vbulletin for Korean users and set everything to UTF-8 for better international language support. However, it turned out vbulletin wasn’t ready for that yet. Korean characters get garbled after posting it and also those characters get garbaged when they are stored in mysql. Is this software issue that doesn’t process asian UTF-8 characters? Who knows…
I submitted a ticket to vbulletin developer team and got a response saying they will diagnose the issue when they get access information to my server. Let’s see how it goes.
When things go well, I can finally open the forum back again. Until then, it’s no no…

Yes you heard it right. flashmx-coders.com is back to live. However, there is no data from old forum because I thought the data was out dated already although there were great threads and posts by so much talented members.
I’m hoping the new forum takes momentum sometime soon discussing all the great stuffs in web design and development area. It’s going to have, of course, slow start. I’ve been using mediatemple.net for about 2 years and am now changing to a new hosting company, hostrocket. The reason to change is that I paid 2yr up front and now the term ended. The service of mediatemple.net was “okay”. Server performance was “okay” to me.
FTP performance on the other hand was “Bad” from where I am somehow. Everytime I upload new folder from local, ftp never refreshes by itself. I had to refresh the remote folder manually. The response time was slow when I used FTP. I don’t know what but I wasn’t impressed with the server performance either. My site basically lagged. Maybe it’s because I’m in east coast and mediatemple.net is in west coast if that makes sense. Who knows.
Anyways I already bought a service plan from hostrocket.com and am uploading all the files and sql data.
I might go offline for few days due to transferring, but will be back as soon as things go well.
Again I changed my blog system to wordpress. It happened to become my annual event… sorta..
