Setting up Apache with PHP5 on FreeBSD

I installed FreeBSD on my T41 Laptop recently. Everything went very smoothly until I got to wireless network setting. Finally I gave up setting up wireless network on my T41 and just used LAN cable… =(

And I needed to install PHP5 that runs on Apache22 and found this link.

This link provides step-by-step instruction. Previously I missed few steps and apache could not understand .php extension. I did not add “AddType application/x-httpd-php .php“!

Anyways, now it works fine and is all good.

EV W-100

I’m not into mobile web technologies yet. The reason was that I did not have time to dig into it in the past, but since I will have more time with web technologies my interest goes to mobile again.

This phone is manufactured in South Korea by KTFT. The phone’s feature is as follows according to the description on the page:

  1. Video Phone
  2. Avatar, Custom drawing during video chat
  3. Flash Album(seems to have Adobe Flash Lite player embedded.)
  4. CSD Viewer
  5. Dictionary
  6. Portable Disk

It seems to me that phone’s feature is heading toward personal pc with features that you use daily basis. With your desktop pc, what would you do usually excluding your daily job using your box?
Like the features above you’d use from my guess. (By the way one thing I noticed was the page did not mention anything about mobile web browsing… Maybe there is, but I just could not find it? who knows…)

Again I did not see web browser embedded into the phone. Maybe it makes sense not to include web browser. Instead the phone has pre-installed applications that talk to server and receive newest data from it. It’s cumbersome for mobile user to enter a URL with tiny keypad. It’s a totally different experience from browsing web sites on desktop pc.

Another cool thing is that it has portable disk feature. So you don’t have to carry another tiny small plastic case that contains flash memory chip on it. The phone has bluetooth so as long as your desktop support bluetooth, moving and copying files from one to another is very easy.

One thing, which not only EV W-100 lacks but also other phones, is sharing with others. Imagine you have a flash picture album and pictures from Italy trip. How can you share those pictures(host them for others to look)? The only thing I think of was to show them by facing phone’s screen to viewer. It would be really cool if the phone can host the picture album to other phones near it. Bluetooth supports 2.1 Mbit/s bandwidth so theoretically it should be able to push pictures to another person’s phone quick enough.

I can’t to wait to see what will be happening in the near future in mobile technology. That said, I’d love to dive into flash lite and other mobile technologies.
